Project Manager

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The Project Manager leads the delivery of multiple projects for Sedex, working at every stage of the project lifecycle from inception through to post-implementation. The successful candidate will be methodical, practical, results-focused, detail-oriented, technically-minded, creative and adaptable, with exceptional communications skills. The Project Manager will engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the project has well-defined requirements, benefits and success criteria, and will then run a virtual team across IT and business disciplines to ensure accurate and timely delivery.  Projects will be planned, tracked and managed in line with Sedex’s standards and procedures.

Key activities within the role include:

  1. To lead the definition and delivery of multiple projects, ensuring that they meet stated expectations in terms of timelines, scope, budget and quality.
  2. To provide end-to-end project management (across multiple projects), from business case development through to implementation, of new products and services.
  3. Supporting the Product Owner in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance.
  4. Continuously improving all aspects of team performance, both on a personal and group level.
  5. To coordinate with stakeholders to determine scope, business requirements, wireframes, product description documents, define user stories and acceptance tests.
  6. To act as the champion for Project Management best practice within Sedex.
  7. To create and maintain appropriately detailed project plans, RAID logs and other project documents to support effective project tracking and management. Identifying risks, issues and blockers and put in place appropriate action plans to mitigate or address them to prevent impact on delivery, escalating where necessary.
  8. To coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure that IT system changes are correctly implemented, documented and tested (including UT, SIT, UAT and RT), to ensure quality throughout delivery.
  9. To produce and issue highlight reports, and in conjunction with the Head of Programmes to ensure the Project Register is kept accurate and up-to-date to provide programme-wide visibility.
  10. To develop and maintain relationships with project teams, stakeholders, delivery partners, 3rd party vendors, members and auditors.

Successful delivery of projects, in line with agreed timelines, scope, budget and quality.  Delivery of positive business change, and high-quality products and services to internal and external stakeholders.  Clear and accurate reporting on project status at all times.  High level of confidence within stakeholder groups of the Project Manager’s ability to deliver.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  1. 4+ years’ experience of successfully managing the end to end project delivery of both IT and business change projects. With exposure to projects delivered through Agile methodologies.
  2. Proven experience in delivering projects in line with industry standard project management tools and methodologies such as PRINCE2, PMI and MS Project.  It is expected that the Project Manager will have achieved PRINCE2 Practitioner status, or an equivalent certification.
  3. Take ownership, drive for results, can-do attitude, hands-on where needed, leading from the front with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  4. An awareness of infrastructure and software development methodologies, tools and techniques.
  5. Experience overseeing multi-function onshore and offshore project teams with at least 10-12 team members including Developers, Business Analysts, and QA Team.
  6. The ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders and bring individuals together, to ensure collaboration throughout the entire project life cycle.
  7. Experience facilitating workshops with a range of stakeholders/clients.
  8. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information in an accessible way to both internal and external stakeholders. Understanding and managing the issues facing both team members and senior management.
  9. Excellent time management and organisation skills.
  10. Ability to show initiative, work independently, in addition to being able to work as a member of the team.
  11. Solid understanding of producing and managing financial forecasts and budgets.
  12. Comprehensive knowledge of MSOffice suite and Microsoft Project or an equivalent tool is essential.  Experience with JIRA and Confluence would be advantageous.

 

RESPONSIBILITY & DECISION MAKING

 

  1. Responsible for delivering assigned projects to timelines, scope, budget and quality.
  2. Responsible for maintaining a positive working relationship with all stakeholders, delivery teams, vendors and partners.
  3. Regularly makes decisions within defined project tolerances as per project scope, budget and timelines.  Anything outside of these is normally referred to the Head of Programmes or the CIO before action.
  4. Responsible for actively promoting and driving the PMO processes within Sedex.
