Agile Business Analyst

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The Agile Business Analyst will work closely with technical and business teams to define, develop and deliver projects, BAU changes and other initiatives.  The successful candidate will be methodical, practical, results-focused, detail-oriented, technically-minded, creative and adaptable, with exceptional communications skills.

You will be working in a busy agile delivery team to define and deliver a huge variety of projects that cover the length and breadth of this global member driven business. You will be charged with gathering requirements from people across the business and across the globe from the Executive team downwards. Understanding issues and working out varied solutions that will drive the Sedex solution to greater heights and help the business run more efficiently.

As a business analyst you will working in an agile environment and must understand the language of agile and be a true Agile advocate.

You must be flexible in terms of what projects you work on and be the kind of person that strives to deliver innovative solutions.

Key activities within the role include:

  1. Work across the full SDLC.
  2. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (including members, auditors, clients and users) to extract and analyse information needs and deliver any appropriate documentation to support software development teams. Be proficient in the creation of use cases, user stories, process flows and wireframes.
  3. Conduct current state analysis in order to help design future state processes, through the mapping of internal business processes, proposing and implementing improvements to existing processes and identifying requirements for new processes.
  4. Work with Product Managers and IT development teams to create, maintain and prioritise feature backlogs.
  5. Engage in and lead the analysis piece for multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  6. Facilitate meetings and workshops with business and IT stakeholders to effectively elicit and document functional and non-functional requirements.
  7. Propose solutions to problems, considering timeliness, effectiveness, and practicality in addressing the business requirements.
  8. Provide guidance to others for the completion of support documentation, including user help documentation, guides and manuals.
  9. Drawing on experience and knowledge to propose effective and efficient ways to meet stated requirements, including recommendations for UI and UX.
  10. Ensuring requirements are consistent and complete, challenging contributors and stakeholders to simplify where possible and improve usability of the final product.
  11. Present requirements and capabilities back to stakeholders and consult to gain agreement and sign-off on all stated requirements, changes and enhancements.
  12. Work very closely with the development team, Team Lead and Architect to ensure requirements are fully understood and correctly implemented.
  13. Work very closely with the QA team and business users conducting UAT, to define effective test cases, ensure adequate coverage of requirements, and determine the alignment and consistency of the delivered functionality against stated requirements and expectations.
  14. Supporting and being an integral member of the PMO & Development teams

 

KEY OUTPUTS

  1. Successful delivery of assigned projects, BAU changes and other initiatives.
  2. Requirements are captured, analysed, translated, transformed and interpreted to Epics, User stories, use cases, functional specifications, UI wireframes and non-functional requirements.
  3. Positive working relationship with development teams and stakeholders, with the Agile BA ensuring that all requirements are fully understood, implemented and delivered.
  4. Creativity & resourcefulness. Be inspirational, flexible and motivational and a driving force behind projects.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  1. 3+ years’ experience in an Agile Business Analyst or Product Owner role.
  2. Should have good experience of the BA techniques used in Waterfall methodologies.
  3. Experience working with cross-functional IT development teams within an Agile software delivery environment.
  4. An ability to build relationships quickly with stakeholders operating at all levels.
  5. Expertise in a wide range of requirement elicitation and documentation techniques.
  6. A pragmatic approach to task prioritisation with “outside the box” problem solving skills.
  7. An ability to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders by drawing out key messages and using appropriate language.
  8. Working knowledge of the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence.
  9. Experience of requirement gathering, analysis and documentation; production, review and enhancement of epics, user stories and use cases; production of business justifications & business cases.
  10. Familiarity with one or more UI wireframe tools.
  11. Experience working very closely with software development teams and Technical Architects to understand, refine and communicate business requirements and generate use cases and stories.
  12. Ability to work independently in addition to being able to work as a member of the team.
  13. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences. An ability to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders by drawing out key messages and using appropriate language
  14. Ability to interact professionally with all stakeholders; clients, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  15. Ability to liaise and facilitate collaboration between business units with diverse priorities.
  16. Expertise in change management and promoting the adoption of new systems and processes.
  17. Experience of user acceptance testing.
  18. Sound understanding of information security best practices.

RESPONSIBILITY & DECISION MAKING

  1. Responsible for capturing, analysing and refining business requirements, and for ensuring delivered products meet those business requirements.
  2. Responsible for documenting requirements and proposed solutions using standardised written report formats, business activity models, process diagrams, use case diagrams, data flow diagrams and user interface mock-ups/wireframes as required.
  3. Develop technical specifications for software development teams.
  4. Utilise and share your experience in effective stakeholder management and management methodologies.
  5. Help drive the expansion and development of Sedex.
